Richard Becker, MD, serves as Chief Executive Officer of Aspen Valley Health. He is a nationally recognized health system executive and physician leader with more than 35 years of experience across a wide range of healthcare organizations, including complex academic medical centers, regional health systems, community hospitals, physician practices, and both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations.

As CEO, Dr. Becker works in close partnership with the Aspen Valley Health Board of Directors, medical staff, leadership team and community partners to set organizational strategy and guide the long-term financial and operational sustainability of the health system. He is responsible for advancing Aspen Valley Health’s mission, ensuring strong governance, and supporting a culture grounded in clinical excellence, accountability and service to the community.

Throughout his career, Dr. Becker has held senior leadership roles within healthcare systems navigating complex clinical, financial and regulatory environments. His experience includes public service with the New York State Department of Health, where he held leadership responsibilities during the COVID-19 pandemic and provided strategic and operational oversight to help maintain access to care during a critical period.

Dr. Becker holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Virginia, a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Virginia School of Medicine, and a Master of Business Administration from The George Washington University School of Business. He is board certified in anesthesiology and critical care medicine.

Richard and his wife, Dr. Rachel Becker, a psychiatrist, are the proud parents of three children, Olivia, Ben and Hannah. As a family, they value an active lifestyle and enjoy calling Aspen home, where they appreciate being part of a close-knit and engaged community.
