Dr. Aaron Alizadeh joined the oncology department at Aspen Valley Health in 2025. Dr. Alizadeh is board certified in both medical oncology and hematology and has practiced general hematology-oncology since 2003. In addition to general medical oncology, he developed a subspecialty in cutaneous and uveal melanoma. During his affiliation with Northside Hospital Cancer Institute in Atlanta, beginning in 2009, he held leadership roles in the treatment of melanoma throughout northern Georgia. He also served as a clinical investigator and participated in numerous peer-reviewed clinical research studies. Dr. Alizadeh began his career in hematology-oncology at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan, where he practiced from 2003-2008. He attended the University of Michigan as an undergraduate and graduated with a medical degree from Wayne State University in 1997. Dr. Alizadeh committed his career to cancer treatment while studying medicine at Wayne State, after his mother and other family members were diagnosed with cancer. He went on to complete medical residencies in both internal medicine and hematology-oncology at Emory University in Atlanta. Treating family members with cancer has informed Dr. Alizadeh’s practice: he takes his patients’ diagnoses personally and strives to find the latest and best treatment available. Dr. Alizadeh has been drawn to Aspen since he was 18, when a friend invited him for a week of skiing. Those sun-filled days on the slopes left a deep impression. After starting a family, he and his wife Diana, who is also a physician, began bringing their children to Aspen with increasing frequency. The move to Aspen became possible when both he and Diana found work in the valley as physicians. In addition to English, Dr. Alizadeh speaks Persian and Spanish.
